Our Story and Mission
Rabbit & Roots Homestead was born out of necessity. As an overworked mother caring for a terminally ill child, it became clear very quickly that what we eat—and how we source it—matters more than anything. At the same time, like so many families, we faced the reality of rising grocery costs and limited access to truly clean, nourishing food. What started as a way to feed our own family better, while reducing expenses, turned into something bigger. Rabbit & Roots exists to help others do the same—by reconnecting people to real food, practical skills, and community. We’re starting locally, sharing what we learn, and building a path where nourishing your family doesn’t have to feel out of reach.
The Wild Rabbit Shoppe
The Rabbit & Roots Shoppe is our pop-up Farm to Home experience—designed to bring simple, intentional living back into everyday life. From sourdough and baking kits to gardening starters, water-propagated houseplants, and garden-ready propagations, everything we offer is rooted in practicality and purpose. You’ll also find handcrafted goods like natural soaps, beeswax candles, handwoven blankets, detox soaks, and thoughtfully curated gift sets—each created to support a slower, more connected way of living. And because we believe joy is part of the process too, we even offer hands-on bunny experiences that invite families to engage, learn, and reconnect in a way that feels real. The Kitchen Table
The Kitchen Table is the heart behind everything we do. Funded in part by our Shoppe and open to anyone who feels called to give, it’s our roving community pantry and shared meal—bringing nourishment directly to those who need it most. By invitation and based on availability and location, we offer access to fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, soap, warm blankets, and other essentials—no judgment, no questions, just care. But more than that, it’s a place to gather. To sit under the stars, share a hot meal, and break bread together as a community. The Kitchen Table exists to restore dignity, create connection, and remind people that they are seen, supported, and never alone.
The SchoolYard Edu-Treat Center
The SchoolYard is what everything we’re building leads toward—our future education and retreat center designed to bring people back to the land, to learning, and to themselves. It will be a place where families, individuals, and communities can come to stay, gather, and grow—offering hands-on education in agriculture, animal care, and sustainable living, alongside chef-led farm dinners and deeply rooted, restorative retreats. Beyond the land, The SchoolYard will extend into an online learning platform and live-streamed animal hatchery experiences that help fund the mission and keep people connected from anywhere. This isn’t just a destination—it’s a living, breathing ecosystem for healing, education, and a new way forward.
